Support a Small Local Coffee Shop
In the suburbia Thousand Oaks, a heart warming cup of locally brewed coffee seems hard to find. Corporate Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf lurks around every corner, offering mediocore, manufacured coffee at high prices to unknowing customers who feel they have no alternative choice. In the tiny local business of Bean Crazy Coffee, our hearts break every day knowing that people in our community are being deprived of organic, love infused brews made with artistic hands. We sell only locally sourced wine, beers, pastries, and beans that are fair trade, organic, and roasted locally.
Not only is it our pleasure to serve the best cup of joe in the Ventura County, we also host shows and Open Mic Nights for artists in the community to share their ideas and talents with each other. Our "Gift Economy Library" is filled with zines and philosophy books, paired with the Gallery that showcases artists who submit their work to us. We are also in the works of getting a food drive going to feed the growing homeless population. In a town where alike minds seem sparce, we try to offer a space for alternative thinkers to connect and feel inspired, while offering a good cup to keep the creative juices flowing.
However, being in an unrenovated, run down shopping center overshadowed by the high luxury shopping mall down the street, Bean Crazy has been kept a hidden gem, struggling to stay open. The money donated to us will be used to paint the walls, fix and update broken furniture and equipment, get an alcohol serving lisence, stock up on cups and condiments, pay rent, and run the open mic nights and shows.
For those of us who work at Bean Crazy, making coffee is a passion and an artform, and we want to continue to share the bliss of a perfect espresso shot, in a shop that values creative freedom and expression. Our community needs its' coffee shop alternative to serve radically tastey coffee, and we would be extremely thankful for any donations towards helping us to do so.
