By now, most of you know me and what I do. I'm a follower of Jesus and a servant of the people. I do this through a variety of roles--teacher, preacher, pastor, activist, advocate--and most of y'all know the organizations through whom I work.

Laws are tricky. I can raise money, but not in the name of the organization that I am part of running. Not until we are a 501c3. And unlike Wall Street and politicians, w plebians are bound by law or we suffer real consequences. So, follow the law we shall. 

I'm poor in money, wealthy in spirit. But the work that I am part of, with amazing people who give everything they have, requires money. We have an event on January 15 concerning the Children's March of 1963. We've got an Antioch professor, our Director of Social Justice Concerns, and me leading a discussion of nonviolent philosophies and methods, from Selma to Standing Rock. We'll examine the actual training techniques used by SNCC and SCL in training youth for civil disobedience, and we'll examine the great care that must be taken whenever we willfully defy the law.

We have our Artistic and Musical Diretors helping with sign making for the January 16 MLK Day walk, which I am leading once again, and we'll also be teaching the songs and chants that will be featured that day. We'll also have counselors and therapists on hand to help kids and parents who might be dealing with some issues after what happened on NYE. 

We want to get pizza and drinks. We have a very limited budget for art supplies given by the MLK Day Committee (on which I sit), but if funds could come from elsewhere, that's be great. 

Soon I'll have another big event to announce for January 25, but a few more details have to be worked out until it is ready for prime time.
