ON SUNDAY MAY 12, 2019 we will commemorate the 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF BBQ BECKY by hosting a FREE Community & Family-Friendly Celebration at Lake Merritt!
What started as a Sunday picnic turned into a racist attack that lasted for hours and eventually went viral. This incident brought national attention to the racial profiling of Black Americans. Our individual and collective responses to these attacks are how we fight back against institutionalized and systemic racism.
