Fallon's Surgery

Donation protected
To my friends, family, and the climbing community:

As you may already know, Wasatch climbing phenom, Fallon Rowe, took a ground fall last October (2017) and completely obliterated multiple bones, ligaments, and a plethora of soft tissue in her right ankle, foot, and leg. Yeah, OUCH!!! Well, after nearly 9 months of healing and rehab, when her bones and ligaments have finally started fully healing, the surgical screws that were used to hold everything together have slowly started BACKING OUT!!! HUGE DOUBLE OUCH!!!

                    INFO ON THE ORIGINAL INJURIES:

*TWO SURGERIES WITH 11 SCREWS AND A LARGE PLATE IN ORDER TO FIX.....

                    -SHATTERED RIGHT CUBOID

                    -BROKEN RIGHT 4TH METATARSAL

                    -TORN RIGHT CFL (ANKLE) LIGAMENT
                    -TORN RIGHT PTFL (ANKLE) LIGAMENT

THE ONLY REASON it was possible for me to learn about the surgical screws backing out is because she had voluntarily reached out to encourage me and ask about my foot injury!!! (Much less serious, non-bank account draining injury.) It was only after I gave my report and complained a little bit about some swelling that I asked how she was doing with her recovery. In the simplest of ways, she completely motivated me to laugh a little and help me feel WAY better about my own situation. She sent me a quick picture (see at the end) of how well her ankle was doing!

AS SOON AS I SAW THE PICTURE I IMMEDIATELY SUSPECTED SHE WAS STILL IN PAIN. YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE SCREWS THAT ARE BACKING OUT!!! (I've had surgical hardware removed from my shoulder that was backing out, and it isn't just annoying folks, IT REALLY HURTS!!!). I of course asked if she would be getting the plate and screw's removed soon. Her response was this:

"Not yet. I need to save a lot of money first. I have about $400 right now, so that's good!....

UHHHH.....YIKES!!!! THAT'S A LONG TIME TO WAIT FOR SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW!!!

Knowing that Fallon is a very grateful and humble person who would never ask for any kind of monetary assistance, I'm shamelessly doing it for her to help get her out of pain and back to her normal pain-free life!

A little back story first. Here's a bit of why I'm so inspired by this young lady!

OPTIMISM IS CONTAGIOUS!!!

After the two completely necessary but extremely intrusive AND expensive surgeries, she faced a minimum of 6 - 8 months of painful rehab in front of her.... and right at the beginning of her last year in college! Ok, so I don't know about you, but for me, that's right about the time that many (if not most) people would pretty much give up on being full of optimism, enthusiasm, positivity, productivity, and an explosive outreach of compassion towards others. Well, not only did she stay positive, committed, and enthusiastic about her future with the two most daunting semesters of upper-level college coursework ahead of her, she continued to smile and REACH OUT TO HELP AND INSPIRE OTHERS (I know because I'm one of them). She's a shining example of dedication to positivity, optimism, enthusiasm, and compassion for others in the community around her!!!

NOW, IF THAT'S NOT EXACTLY WHAT THIS WORLD NEEDS MORE OF, WHAT IS???

Not only did she stay enrolled and complete her schooling while being fully dedicated to inspiring others in the community, she stayed optimistic about her future with climbing too!!! Now that she's FINALLY healing, she's ready to get back to her normal level of actively crushing it at the crags (and in life) ....EXCEPT FOR.....

THIS LAST LITTLE SURGERY!

YES ... $3K IS A LITTLE SURGERY. LET'S HELP HER NOT ONLY GET OUT OF PAIN, LET'S HELP HER AVOID ANY COMPLICATIONS IN THE FUTURE..... EVERYTHING DOES HELP! LET'S GET THIS DONE AND GET HER BACK TO 100%.
