Eleyas Fundraiser

Hello,  we've decided to set up this fundraiser for our daugther Eleya Rios. Our one year old perfect  babygirl has been going through the toughest times in her life without even knowing it. Emilio and I are being as strong as we possibly can and always staying positive but it does get hard at times. On August 7th, 2014 our Eleya Scarlett was born and on August 8th we found out our babygirl had a congenital heart defect and two holes in her heart (VSD and PDA). From Leominster Health Alliance, we got transferred to UMASS NICU and we were told that our babygirl had Pulmonary stenosis, in other words her pulmonary valve was not opening up enough for blood to circulate to her lungs. As a new young parents this news was devasting because we didnt expect this due to having a perfectly healthy pregnancy. The doctor at UMASS told us we needed to go to Boston Childrens where Eleya will recieve the best health care in the childrens Cardiac ICU. The doctors at boston explained that she will be recieving a catherized procedure to open up the valve so she could recieve blood to her lungs. They did the procedure and it was successful but they ended up opening her pulmonary valve a little too much causing regurgitation(Regurgitation is the name for leaking heart valves. Sometimes the condition is minor and may not require treatment, but other times valve regurgitation places a strain on the heart. It can cause the heart to work harder to pump the same amount of blood). In our case it was putting a strain on her heart causing her to sweat severely, loose weight, and causing her to cough. We had to see Lungs Specialists, Two cardiologists, and a Nutritionist because Eleya was very underweight. We just now found out that she will be needing Open Heart Surgery as soon as possible due to the fact her heart is working so hard it is getting too big for her body and she is also at risk for a disease called Eisenmenger Disease which is very fatal and could cause organs to fail if not treated right away.

Right now, We, Eleyas Parents appreciate any donations. These donations will help out so much because due to Eleya needing alot of attention only one parent is supporting our household.  When she recieves her surgery we will have to stay at the hosiptal and will not be able to work. (household bills, hospital bills, transportation, food, etc)
