Help me raise the funds to attend the Biophilia Residency at the Ayatana Artists' Research Program this summer!
"Ayatana’s goal is to support the conceptual development of contemporary art and to bridge gaps between scientists, artists and thinkers of all kinds."
Biophilia is a term used to describe the human urge to affiliate with other forms of life; the Biophilia residency will provide an opportunity for me to immerse myself in a landscape of nature, just outside of Ottowa, Canada, and continue my work with bats and nightness.
During the week long residency, I will be joining five other artists of various backgrounds to work alongside scientists, including a BAT BIOLOGIST, while I continue to explore the work I started last fall. Combining my love for the written word and the natural world is precisely what this project, and program, is all about; this intensive week will be geared toward further exploration and development of a book-length landscape poem, Nightscapes, that wanders through and sheds a sort of light on the various dimensions of night, including its nocturnal inhabitants.
I am beyond thrilled and honored to be one of the six artists chosen for this residency, and cannot wait to see where this adventure leads.
The $2000 that I am hoping to raise will cover all costs of the residency, including airfare both to and from Ottowa. I am hoping to reach my goal by June 1st, when the funds are due to the program.
I have included a link to the program for all those interested in the amazing work that awaits me (yes--bats, owls, and all sorts of other magnificence).
