On July 2nd, 2017 my Prius C was vandalized outside of our Portland home. My commuter vehicle between Portland, Oregon and Los Angeles, California was not only scratched, but now has new beautiful artwork scribbled across it in gold "Golden State" spray paint. The phrase "GO BACK TO CALIFORNIA" blazed across the drivers side door and passenger door, "CALIFORNIA GET OUT OF PDX" is boldly stated on back of the car, and "CALI! SURFS UP" covers the front hood. The white and red California license plates are now gold as well, including various other parts of the car. This unique piece of 100% authentic vandalism art is now available for sale. Display as a conversation piece in your living room or add to your growing street art collection. An elusive artist, taking to the streets at night, could this be the work of Banksy?

California: The Golden State, where I was born and raised. My little car, since targeted, is the antithesis of who I am and my ethics. LA is an accepting Mecca for the weird and wonderful, a culturally dynamic gem of non-conformity. Exposed to this generous environment, it's impossible to reconcile with the exclusionary sentiment spewed in acrylic paint. This act of hatred towards someone from California is but a small percentage of the discrimination facing others worldwide. Be it for their race, religion, sexual preference, or much more. The hate filled words highlight the larger issues.

In the wake of the vandalism our Portland community came together providing my fiance and I with loving encouragement and support. We are blessed to have an alliance with all walks of life, including working with the LGTBQ community, having a famous drag queen boss, a strong black female entrepreneur as a co-worker, friends of many religions and some with no religious beliefs at all. I traveled to Standing Rock, ND last year to fight the building of the oil pipe lines through sacred land, with my Native America friend and her family from the Cabazon band of Mission Indians. My fiances best friend is a wonderful black gay man, who's partner is tirelessly working to build housing for the homeless in LA. My mother immigrated to America and became a national citizen so she could use her right to vote. My friend works with an organization raising money for ambulance services in Israel. My half Japanese cousin in Portland works at a medical facility that provides care for those with no home or income. We have friends working in Social Services, Doctors Without Borders, animal rescue, and so much more. Our lives are better because of them and we thank every one of them from the bottom of our hearts for being in our lives. We love and accept you.
