Sorenson Family Medical Fund

Washington State University center, Riley Sorenson, came to El Paso, Texas to play in the Sun Bowl.  As the team entered the tunnel on December 26th, 2015, Riley was pulled aside by his coach and given the news his father had suffered a heart attack prior to entering the stadium.  Mr. Bart Sorenson was quickly attended to by the El Paso emergency services, and was taken directly to Providence Hospital, where he received CPR and a series of electric shock treatments to revive him.  He underwent angioplasty, where a large blockage was detected and immediately repaired, and 3 stents were inserted.  He was placed in an induced coma in ICU, and remains in this state today.  The neurologist has indicate that 70% of his brain is damaged, and they are not certain at this point whether he will awaken.  This was not the first medical situation the family faced this year.  In November after the WSU-UCLA game, Riley was pulled aside by his father and informed he would not be returning to Pullman, Washington, as his mother Karen was in the hospital with Stage 4 Melanoma, and was not expected to make it to Thanksgiving.  Miraculously she has been given another chance, only to now be faced with this second family tragedy.

Karen, Riley and his siblings Will and Elizabeth are all in El Paso, Texas now, watching and waiting to understand the state of Bart Sorenson.  The family is faced not only with decisions, but also the financial burden of staying in a place far from where they live in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.  To help offset the cost of hotel, meals, transportation and airfare while in El Paso, we have put together this GoFundMe account.  As time goes by, this account will be used to help ease additional financial obligations, such as ongoing medical bills and treatment down the road.

Please continue to send prayers and positive thoughts to the Sorenson family. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.
