Hola, mi nombre es Adrian, y esta chica guapa de aquí es Bárbara. Tiene 25 años, es comunicadora audiovisual, adora el cine y los pugs son su punto débil. 
Somos novios desde hace ya un buen rato, y aunque vivir con ella es una maravilla, hay un lado difícil que no mostramos todos los días .
Barbie padece intensos dolores en la columna y el vientre, capaces de dejarla en cama por días enteros. Los dolores no ceden con medicación, y sólo presentan una leve y transitoria mejoría con tratamiento combinado de opiáceos (morfina) y meloxicam (ya que es alérgica a otras drogas antiinflamatorias).
Bárbara sufre de sindrome facetario lumbar. Debe someterse a una intervención lo antes posible, antes de que siga empeorando.
Desde los 13 años, Bárbara ha experimentado dolores de vientre incapacitantes. Tras miles de visitas a ginecólogos y otros profesionales, y de recibir las mismas respuestas ("la regla duele", "todo está bien", "¿segura que te duele?", etc), conseguimos dar con una especialista que detectó la causa del dolor y la refirió a un traumatólogo. Se realizó una infiltración en la columna y la mejoría fue inmediata, ¡Tenía muchísimo tiempo sin verla tan feliz! Aprovechamos para ir a Donosti a nadar.
Pero por desgracia, el tratamiento fue una solución temporal. Un fin de semana ha sido el período más largo que ha pasado Barbie sin dolor.
Lo peor llegaría más tarde con las cuentas. El seguro no sólo se negó a cubrir el tratamiento a largo plazo, sino también la infiltración y las pruebas realizadas. Los gastos médicos se han ido acumulando y acumulando, y con ellos, las deudas, las pastillas y las noches sin dormir. Tras 11 meses de espera en la sanidad pública, no hemos recibido respuesta ni siquiera para una consulta traumatológica. Ya las cuentas no dan y el problema parece no tener solución simple, es por eso que pido tu ayuda para darle a Bárbara la calidad de vida que merece.
La recomendación del médico es realizar una rizolisis o denervación lumbar, un procedimiento quirúrgico ambulatorio en el que se matan las terminaciones nerviosas en el origen del dolor para que el paciente pueda enfocarse en ejercitar la postura y en rehabilitación para descomprimir la zona afectada. Se debe realizar al menos dos veces en un período de un año para ver una mejoría significativa. El costo es altamente prohibitivo y ya han sido varias las compañías aseguradoras que le han cerrado las puertas a Barbie.
Tras averiguar en muchos sitios, dimos con la mejor relación precio-valor en una clínica de Barcelona. Cada procedimiento costará 2075€; en muchos otros centros, el precio sobrepasa los 3000€.
Tenemos que cubrir también deudas y gastos que se han realizado en todo este tiempo para mantener a Barbie en condiciones de trabajar, entre ellos: 311€ que se deben a la Clínica Universidad de Navarra por consulta e infiltración, 139€ de exámenes y medicinas que el seguro no cubre y 400€ en fisioterapia (a futuro).
Es recomendado que el tratamiento se lleve a cabo en los próximos 3 meses, porque el dolor ha ido empeorando hasta dejar a Bárbara en cama por una semana. Nuestro objetivo es poder empezar con la primera rizolisis en enero 2017.

She has seen a myriad of gynecologists and other physicians, always getting the same answers ("periods hurt, don't worry", "eveything's fine", "are you sure this hurts as bad as you're saying?", etc). We managed to find an specialist who pinpointed the real cause of the pain and sent her to a traumatologist. She received a facet joint injection that made her better almost immediately. It had been ages since I last saw her that happy! We went swimming later that week, to Donostia.
Unfortunately, the procedure was only a temporary solution. A weekend (two days) is the longest that Barbie has gone without any severe pain.
The worst part was the bills that followed. Our insurance refused to cover for a long-term treatment, the facet injection, and the medical tests. Our expenses are growing and growing, and with them, huge debts, mountains of pills, and countless sleepless nights. After waiting 11 months for the public health service to help us, we haven't even gotten a date (or an answer, for that matter) for a simple visit to the traumatologist. We're running out of money and this problem is not going to go away easily, that's why we're asking for your help to give Barbie a decent standard of living, the one she deserves.
The last doctor recommended she undergo a rhyzolisis (or facet joint denervation) procedure, a surgical ambulatory intervention that stops the nerve from sending signals to the spine. The patient later does rehabilitation treatments to allow the affected lumbar area to recover completely. She has to do this at least twice on the same year for the procedure to be entirely successful on the long term. The procedure is exorbitantly expensive, and we have been turned down many times by a large number of insurance companies, so far.
After doing a lot of research, we managed to find a suitable price at a Barcelona clinic. Each injection will cost €2075, which is an improvement from the more-than-3000 euro invoice that we would get from other clinics.
We also have to cover all the debts and expenses that we currently have, which is the only thing that has kept Bárbara healthy enough to work. Among them: €311 to the Clínica Universidad de Navarra for the appointments and facet joint injection, €139 for tests and medicine that our insurance won't cover, and €400 for future physiotherapy.
