Ponca Nation Protects Mother Earth

Donation protected
“In 2015 we had 907 quakes of a 3.0 magnitude and above. If the governor won’t call for a stop to fracking, the sovereign Ponca nation will.” Casey Camp Horinek, Ponca elder

Please help us launch this historic campaign to defend the Rights of Mother Earth & ban fracking and well injections on Ponca territory now.
Your donation will help cover the cost of Indigenous leaders and Rights of Mother Earth experts travel to the Ponca Nation in October, for the launch of the campaign, to meet with Ponca Tribal Council and hold public actions on Ponca land.

In Oklahoma, fracking operations (including injection wells) have devastated communities, caused massive fish-kills and animal deaths, poisoned rivers and ground water and created earthquakes.  Due to fracking, Oklahoma is now the earthquake capital of the world.

Rather than address the issue of fracking and its dangers, the Governor and state legislature passed SB809, banning residents from banning or limiting oil and gas operations.

Movement Rights’ board member, Casey Camp Horinek (second from the left in the photo below), a Ponca elder and elected Tribal Council member recently spoke at a Senate hearing, “In 2015 we had 907 quakes of a 3.0 magnitude and above. If the governor won’t call for a stop to fracking, the sovereign Ponca nation will.”

Your donation will support campaign costs and travel for Indigenous Environmental Network Executive Director, Tom B.K. Goldtooth, Native American artist, actor and activist Michael Horse, and Movement Rights co-founders Pennie Opal Plant and Shannon Biggs.

Movement Rights  is working with BOLD Oklahoma and the Ponca Nation of Oklahoma to pass a historic law that would recognize the rights of Mother Earth to be free from fracking on all tribal lands in Oklahoma—and set a precedent in Oklahoma for communities to stand up and say “NO” to fracking.

Join the campaign today and receive our special thanks to you:

Your donation of $35 will receive a copy of our report with the Indigenous Environmental Network, “Rights of Mother Earth: Sowing Seeds Resistance, Love & Change”

Your donation of $50 or more will receive a campaign T-shirt (S-4XL)

Your donation of $100 or more will receive a campaign T-shirt & a signed print by Michael Horse of "The Last Breath of the Black Snake".
