As a dog lover, and, dog owner, this is very upsetting to me. It was so unnecessary for that poor dog to be shot dead,.. I have two dogs of my own...they are wonderful, loving, dogs, and, have never bit anyone...But, they do bark when someone is here. And, there has been times, in which police officers have come to my door, for one reason or another, and, yes, my dogs stood at their feet barking at them...I was scared what would happen to them, when I first realized they were barking at police officers. But, fortunately, I had nothing to worry about. They were not cowardly police officers. They were brave, friendly, polite, and, professional officers, who knew they were not dangerous. Not once have I ever had a police officer, even for a second, act like he was going to shoot my dog, for being a dog. I would like to thank them for being professionals at their job. And, I'm sure, that, when they decided to become police officers, they were taught what to expect, and, how to handle situations, like the one in Filer. I cannot imagine relying on police officers to protect our community, if they can't even handle one barking dog. I have lived alone for quite some time, and, it has always been comforting to me, knowing, that, if there is someone around, good or bad, I will know it,..thanks to my pooches. How sad, seeing Hassani, shoot and kill that poor dog, and, show not one bit of remorse. Not who I would want in charge of my familys' safety. This is WRONG!!! My heart goes out to Hooch, and his poor family, who loved him so much... I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope this donation helps toward your costs,..wish I could send more. Good luck to you
Mark, perhaps you can use this to help train another service dog?
I agree that seeking Justice for Hooch is going to be a VERY expensive and drawn out process. And justice we must all seek if we are to stop this ever growing phenomenon of officers of the law shooting pets and livestock and justifying 100% of these killings with "The animal aggressed me... I was afraid..." Really 100% of dogs/animals shot by police are justifiable killings???
I hope this helps. I am on a fixed income but believe some things are about more than money.
I think this lawsuit is important and right thing to do !
One of the problem, is everybody keeps forgetting there is more to this than the shooting of the dog - maybe this is the reason why the City of Filer could not see sufficient cause for termination?
