Back Surgery for Duane

This page has been set up on behalf of Duane Froese, my father, who will be travelling to Germany for disk replacement surgery. His surgery date is on July 4, 2018, followed by specialized physiotherapy at the clinic in Germany. We are looking to raise $54,000 to help cover the cost of the surgery and other related needs. 

My dad has been dealing with chronic back pain for about 8 years now and it has taken a toll on both his personal and working life. It led to the reluctant sale of his business in 2015. In 2016 he spent a great deal of time at a pain clinic in Winnipeg. This helped with his mobility, however the pain continued to lessen his physical abilities. In 2017 my dad was blessed with the opportunity to begin working as the Prayer and Care Pastor at Heartland Community Church in Landmark, but the pain continues to cause limitations for that as well.

If you have ever met my dad, you know that he is the type of person who will give of himself until he has nothing left to give. His selflessness and generosity has blessed others in so many ways. He is an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Nothing fills my heart with more happiness than to see how my two year old daughter’s face lights up for her grandpa, though I know he would love to be more hands on and active with her if it weren’t for the pain.

My parents began considering the option of back surgery in Germany in early 2018. Recent X-Rays and MRI imaging confirmed the progression of degenerative disc disease, as first discovered in 2016. For my parents this was a clear indication of the importance of this surgery and an answer to their prayers for direction, now leading up to the confirmed surgery date on July 4. The surgery will consist of a double disc replacement, followed by a hospital stay and rehabilitation for a minimum of two weeks.

Our prayers for my dad are that the pain and discomfort will be eliminated, allowing for a complete shift in his life. We pray that pain medication, challenging days and sleepless nights will be replaced with health, increased energy, and the freedom to enjoy life to the fullest. With a second grandbaby on the way, I know my dad is anxiously looking forward to the day that he can hold, play with and love on his grandchildren without limitations. Pain free.
