BABY YAHOO'S STORY...

August 29th is the day that everything happened. Baby Yahoo's mom was pre-diagnosed as "toxic" and was told by her Doctor they would do a c-section on August 29th. Prior to her c-section appointment, mommy and daddy went to the doctors and was checked. The doctor told them to head to the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton where she would have her c-section as planned. Mommy called baby "Yahoo" as a fun reference from Sesame Street from when she was a child.

The drive to the hospital is only between 20-25 minutes, but in between the visit to the doctor and arriving at the hospital, mommy passed from Amniotic Embolism, a very rare condition. Daddy tried his hardest to get to the hospital as fast as he could, and was witness to his wife passing. 

Upon arriving at the hospital, doctors did everything they could to save her but it was too late for mommy. Now the focus was on Baby Yahoo. He was removed via c-section and non-responsive with no pulse, nor was he breathing. He had been without oxygen for too long. After 7 minutes of CPR, baby yahoo came back and was rushed to the specialists. 

As daddy said goodbye to mommy, Baby Yahoo was under the care of the medical staff who were doing everything to keep him alive. This included battling the never ending seizures baby had to deal with. Baby Yahoo was being transported to the Royal Alexandra Hospital via Ambulance and daddy had to leave mommy to join him. 

Since being at the Royal Alexandra hospital, baby has been is a sedated state and heavily medicated to help his brain from seizing. But even with the efforts of medications, he continued to seize for hours at a time. The damage to his brain is something that at this point was not preventable. 

In the past few days he has opened his eyes and the seizing has stopped but now the real work has begun. Baby Yahoo may live with a feeding tube and have cognitive and motor challenges ahead. We pray for the best and we pray for a miracle for Baby Yahoo. 

Baby Yahoo was mommy's first baby ever. He was a surprise to both mommy and daddy. A gift from God and now a gift to daddy from mommy. They were proud black belts of K. H. Min Taekwondo and believed in the Martial Arts way! Mommy has left a hole in many hearts with all the people who loved and cherished her.  

All of this came with expenses they did not anticipate. Financially, they were not prepared for what lies ahead now. If you knew the parents, you would know what amazing people they are. Hearts bigger than the world itself...integrity beyond measure...loving everyone they meet and caring for humankind. But daddy needs to make a living now for the two of them and he will need help taking care of his son and the medical expenses that lie ahead. 

We don't know at this point what this will look like, but what we do know is that anything donated for Baby Yahoo will go to helping him and daddy start their new life together. Daddy is dealing with enough so as friends we have come together to reach out to the world and ask for help. Any amount would go a long way for Daddy and Baby Yahoo.
