Baby Austons Journey

Donation protected
We are raising money for Alyssa and her family. Alyssa and her partner Brandon, got some of the worst news a parent can hear. Baby Auston is only 1 year old and is currently residing in the Ronald McDonald House in Vancouver, BC. We do not know when he will be out, all we know is the doctors are stumped and what he has is very rare. Please read Austons story below. ANYTHING helps! The cost will be covering missed wages and the cost of the ferry for the family back and fourth from Victoria to Vancouver.

“On August 31st Auston started vomiting couldn’t keep anything down days went by I noticed his left eyes started to get very droopy and shift at first I thought it was just me but days went by and it started getting worse and worse. A day later we went to the allergy specialist( he’s allergic to dairy) she’s also a paediatrician and she noticed Auston’s left eye right away The allergy specialist told us to go to the eye doctor we did the next day she also was very concerned about the droopiness of his eye she referred us to VGH on Wednesday of last week we got admitted right away we had an MRI on Thursday afternoon we got the results on Thursday evening there are abnormal cells in his brain in the Cavernous sinus abnormal cell which is very deep into the brain we got flown over to the BC Children’s Hospital on Friday morning Auston has an amazing team so far we have oncology, paediatric paediatricians, residents, neurosurgery, ophthalmologist. The neurosurgeon wants to run as many tests as possible to see if we can find anything else like the abnormal cells in his brain then we can take a biopsy from there instead of the brain, if we cannot find any other answers in these tests the neurosurgeon will do a biopsy of the brain he’s hesitant right now because it’s a dangerous surgery. we don’t know why he’s so sick they will be giving Auston steroids to rule out a any inflammation he will be on these for 10 days If steroids show no improvement then we will need to go back to square one and take a sample of the affected tissue and get another MRI The doctors and specialists have never seen anything like this especially in a baby they are watching him very closely Auston will also be getting a PICC in.”
