Wedding Hair for an Alopecia Patient
During her first year in high school, after six years of wearing a hat everyday, Carol was fitted for her first wig. Having hair drastically improved her quality of life. Since then, Locks of Love provided the financial support for these hairpieces as she needed many more as they wore out from everyday, natural wear and tear.
Unfortunately, after turning twenty one, Locks of Love does not continue to offer financial support or resources for wigs for Alopecia patients. These hairpieces are extremely expensive because of the need to be fitted for everyday and more permanent use than other types of wigs. Even after taking extremely good care of her current one, it is starting to show the signs of wear and tear including patches, slipping and other problems. A few months ago, Carol's wonderful boyfriend asked if she would spend the rest of her life with him and she happily agreed.
(This is them just minutes after their engagement in Chicago!)
Although this should be a time of excitement for them, she just found out that neither of the insurance plans that she has covers wigs for her condition because it is not due to any type of treatment, such as chemotherapy. I know that everyone will think she looks gorgeous on her wedding day no matter what, but I believe that having a new wig that is not patchy, falling apart and sliding off her head will make her feel as beautiful as she should feel on her wedding day and I'm hoping to help her achieve that! Thank you so much for visiting our page and considering helping out this wonderful woman as she deals with her unique wedding day stress. And in case you wanted a laugh, here is a picture of us from a few days ago when we got to meet up! (I live 1,000 miles away from her, so seeing each other is a wonderful treat!)
