Refugee supplies and donations
Donation protected
I'll be traveling to Lesvos, Greece tomorrow to help deliver supplies to refugees arriving on the rocky shores. Thousands are arriving every night - cold, soaked, and traumatized. As a coodinator for Marhacar, I see the daily urgent requests for gloves, hats, socks, shoes, etc. It breaks my heart when our team of volunteers cannot find these items; knowing that no shoes or socks means cold feet in freezing weather. My little family of friends often buy these items out of their own funds when we know we are unable to fulfill a request. Now that I will be on the ground, I am setting up this fund to fill the gap when we cannot find the supplies we need. I have already self funded all sorts of supplies (and my trip) but every single person I have spoken to would like to help in some way. I am setting up this fund so those that want to give have a way to do so. These donations make a big difference - even a few dollars will buy a bottle of water for someone who hasn't had fresh water in days. I'll post this when an urgent need comes in and let you know what your funds are buying. Thank you to everyone who has already given me warm items and carriers to take over (my suitcases are stuffed)...I believe in the capacity of the human spirit and that love will always end up on the right side of history - #onelove (thank you Amanda).
