Textbooks are too damn high!
I've made it, somehow, if just barely. I'm currently attending R.I.T./N.T.I.D and to describe this experience would take a whole blog post. As a freshman (transfer) I'm adjusting to living on campus and all the experiences it brings. I'm glad to be surrounded by brilliant folks, staff and students alike.
This page as it stands: I'm currently working on campus and this page was originally started as a fundraiser for school and is now an ongoing fundraiser for textbooks and other expenses related to school for things I cannot afford. I just wanted to thank everyone who donated and shared because unfortunately education in this country is still not free and education (including textbooks) is too damn high! In other words you do not need to have attended University in order to understand the following: Students (workers alike) performance are better when they don't have to preoccupy themselves with obtaining basic resources, whether it be food or textbooks.
With the money donated I have purchased:
A subscription to GoReact a program used in my ASL 4 class.
Introduction to American Deaf Culture for my American Deaf Culture class.
I borrowed a book from the Library for Introduction to Interpreting class.
Soon enough I'll purchase a code for my math class which costs 90 dollars.
If I have money leftover I will use towards other school related expense that are not immediate but I could certainly do with:
Items like: Glasses! A mini fridge,USB, Dry Eraser Board and some cleaning products.
<3 and Solidarity.
Share and if you wish to donate items inform me and I'll give you my school mailing address.
Just received another donation of 131 from my family in Brazil!!! Much needed since my free trial for my program in my Math class is about to expire :]
I have remodeled the page in order to reflect and inform of my current progress with the resources donated. Take a look!
Just received another donation of 16.00! Every cent is appreciated!
