Dear Friends and Family,

Terry Everett is a mechanic at the Lehighton garage for PennDOT and has worked part-time at Tractor Supply for 5 years. He also farms with his son Alden. On Friday, October 19, Terry suffered serious injury when his sleeve got caught in a corn picker, pulling his right hand into the rollers. Neighbors, family, and first responders arrived quickly, but Terry had to be medevaced to Philly for immediate surgery. While surgeons managed to save his hand, he lost his index finger and had another reconstructed. After 1 week the family has 4 ambulance rides, a 3-hour medevac flight, 2 surgeries, 2 ER trauma bills, and a week of inpatient bills to pay. There are more to come since Terry is still facing serious complications from the injury and additional surgeries to close his wounds and fight a dangerous infection.

Once his condition is stabilized it will take even more time to rehabilitate his hand to the point that he can work again. Terry is the sole breadwinner, as his wife Kelly is disabled and unable to drive due to a medical condition, so the family is also facing a devastating loss of income...which appears *not* to be covered by his work benefits.

Please help a hardworking family I love to recover from this devastating blow that fell only two weeks after losing their dear Memmy (Marion Everett) to a long battle with cancer. *Anything* you can share here or in person will raise not only their prospects but their spirits.

Peace and blessings,
Keturah

update from Kelly (12/12):
"Well, SURPRISE for Terry at the doctors office in Philly. He has to have his hand worked on first thing tomorrow in Philly. All this running here, going there, sleepless nights. My fibromyalgia is screaming and epilepsy is getting harder to keep in the background. I know I always ask because I believe it always helps, I am grateful for any and all prayers."

Tomorrow's surgery will be skin graft attempt #2. Hoping the infection is gone for good and this graft works!

from Kelly last week:
“So the skin graft was a bust. All it really did was seem to bring an encapsulated infection to the surface. Dr. Stroll had to remove the graft and now we are back at square one, with the exceptions being Terry now has to start light pt cuz his fingers are stiffening up. On the Harrisburg front... nothing. Shocker. We will run out of pain time on 1/4/2019 and then I guess we pRay for assistance, but the little they pay will barely make rent. Oh... and just found out Penn Dot does not have to keep Terry’s job for 3 yrs like we were told, only 6 months. Plus, they only have to offer health care for 6 months even if they chose to hold his position. I mean really, if you have a great group of guys offering up their own paid time, shouldn’t the person in need be able to accept it? Well antibiotics for now to build up for another surgery, and then eventually a third which will be a bone graft.”

Today's message/update from Kelly:
"On Giving Tuesday if anyone is looking for a good cause please consider Terry. As it always goes, interest is high in the beginning and then drops off as time passes. His last surgery this past Wednesday went ok but showed a complication that will need a bone graft in the near future. Then 20 more HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen] treatments every day for a month, 2-3 more operations, and 3 months of pt/or. His expenses are mounting and will continue to grow through late spring at best. He is my best friend and other half of my soul, an awesome father, loyal friend and hard worker. You won’t be sorry you invested in his future. It will be returned to our community tenfold by restoring not only his health, but also his faith, and he swears he is going to repay everyone back in his way by his helping of others. Give at his go fund me page started by Alden and his girlfriend Keturah. God Bless!"
