Back-to-Beautiful Medical Cat Cases

Donation protected

June is one of the hardest months in cat rescue.  It's the month were intakes are high -- people are moving, having babies, getting married, going on vacation, and leaving their cats behind.  On top of that, it's high kitten season.

June is also the month for the slowest adoptions -- for the same reason as listed above.  People moving, having babies, getting married, and going on vacation, just aren't thinking about bringing a new pet into the family.

St. Sophia's has the mission to provide the BEST in Temporary Care for Cats in Transition.  And even though adoptions are low and intake is high, we CANNOT compromise in the medical care that we provide for our cats.

This summer, we have a few cats that have come to St. Sophia's needing a little bit of extra help, and that's where we need YOUR help to help them.

Admiral

First off, how do you say no to this face?  This little guy is Admiral, who came all the way to Addison from Herrin City (down state), with a degloved tail (tail bone striped of muscle/skin).  Whether it was done by a person or he got stuck somewhere and ran leaving part of his tail behind him, he needed our help, and we knew we had the perfect foster to get him back to beautiful.  The tip of his tail needed to be removed, and the base of his tail had a large wound that's required cleaning (especially hard since he's a poof ball) and medicating.  We know people will be lining up to adopt this cutie, but we need your help to get him healthy first.

Lieutenant

This sweet boy was found with large wounds all down his back hip.  The lacerations needed to be flushed, debrised, stitched and drained.   While his wound started healing well, just a bit of an awkward move caused a stitch to pop and started an infection.  It's back under control now, and he's starting to feel a lot better.  But your help will help give him that final push to getting healthy and ready for a home.

Staples
An orange tabby, who we have named Staples, has also come into our care this summer.  He was found with large cuts down his back that required stapling and suturing.  His back is healing, but now he's dealing with an Upper Respiratory Infection and has required additional medical treatments to get him on the road to healthy.

Leena
Having come from the streets, after losing most of her ears to frost bite, this girl is all about getting attention and love and is craving a family of her own.  But she's not quite ready yet.  Leena has been having trouble breathing (she sounds like Darth Vader).  A scope was used to check her soft pallet, and a mucoid sensitivity/culture test was performed.  We are currently treating her for 3 different infections (viral, bacterial, AND fungal), and it's taking a toll on her body.  Once she's stabilized the plan is to get her in for a rhinoscopy to check her hard pallet for a tumor or polyp.  We're hoping for the best and we need your help to help her keep getting the treatments she needs.

Cadence

She's been with St. Sophia's just over a year and has FIV.  Being a tortie with tortitude and FIV is hard enough finding a home.  But now Cadence has a mammary tumor that needs to be removed to keep the cancer from spreading.  She still has a lot of life to live and your help will help her get the treatment she needs, and then off to a forever home!
