Community Mural

Donation protected
I am a professional artist with over 30 years of painting and teaching art to students.  This mural will be my first large scale public art piece.  This community mural will celebrate the riches of my hometown(New Iberia, LA)  and parish (Iberia).  The painting has five figures in a boat which represents our sugarcane, salt, pepper and oil industries.  It also highlights our cultural gifts such as our heritage, the arts and our many festivals.  The boat is floating on the Bayou Teche which flows through the center of our city.
The First United Methodist Church of New Iberia has been wonderful as they own the building that the mural will be painted on.  It is located on their property on St. Peter Street.  The building measures 14 feet high by 52 feet wide.  The church is currently in the process of prepping the wall.
Any funds raised will go towards the cost of the paint, UV protective coating, painting supplies and labor.  Any monies over the amount will be given to the church for there outreach ministries.
The support for the arts in our community is very strong and very appreciated.  Thank you to all who have supported the arts and I hope this project will inspired more artists to share their talents with others.
