Help Me Bring Diversity to Japan

Donation protected

DEADLINE AUGUST 8th, 2014

Thank you for visiting my page. I have been selected to lead selected leadership sessions as an international facilitator in Tokyo, Japan at a 1-week leadership development conference on August 12th (my birthday). My job will be to lead sessions for 75+ Japanese university students for the 2014 Japan Leadership Development Seminar (JaLDS). The NGO AIESEC JAPAN and the company LinkedIn have collaborated to put on this amazing conference. I need donations to purchase the $2,000 roundtrip plane ticket from Toronto to Tokyo. The conference team is covering all over expenses when I land.

Before I speak more about this conference, allow me to tell you about myself and about my journey that led to this amazing opportunity.

January 2012, my Junior year at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, I was introduced to the largest student run nonprofit organization AIESEC during an eye-opening information session that fell inline with my career goals and mission in life. I applied, was accepted into the organization, and have been developing leadership skills and making friends from all over the world.

AIESEC is an international nonprofit organization that provides young people with leadership opportunities to develop themselves into global leaders with an urge to make a difference in society. AIESEC is present in 160 countries and territories.

Our Motto is: "Empowering Young People for Peace and Fulfillment of Humankind's Potential"

Since I have joined AIESEC I have been to 4 National and Regional Leadership conferences in the United States as only a delegate.

January 2013 was when I took on the role as the Organizing Committee President for a Regional Semester conference for the organization. That was a high demanding role where I worked with the Southeast Local Chapter presidents, the National VP’s, and my 7-member team to organize a conference for 215 delegates new to the organization in Tybee Island, Georgia. I really started to shine.

It was that moment that I knew that I wanted to do even more in AIESEC…

… So I did!

Because I felt comfortable within the AIESEC United States organization I decide to look at other entities to learn. That is when I chose to work with the National AIESEC chapter in Mexico City.

I joined the AIESEC Mexico team as a National Support Team member. In that role that I held for a year I was able to travel to the country 3 times for special events and leadership conferences for the Mexican delegation.

I was accepted with open arms and much respect. I never felt so honored in my life to be apart of an organization that's goal is to get us out of our comfort zone and still work towards being the best leader of tomorrow.

Now come to Japan. It has always been a place I’ve wanted to go since I was a little kid. Because of my leadership skills and dedication to the organization I have been recognized and invited by AIESEC in Japan to led leadership sessions as a facilitator for the freshman university students who are new members of AIESEC in Japan. I am no longer just a delegate at a conference.

Because of the lack of diversity in Japan, AIESEC in Japan have invited myself and 11 other international fascinators from other parts of the globe to help with their initiatives.

There is an ongoing trend of Japanese citizens not exploring career opportunities outside of their nation so our job this conference is to educate these future youth leaders on the many global opportunities that await them in both the private and nonprofit sector. In, addition, this year’s theme is “Youth Voice Linked IN” and our mission is to create the best platform for young future global leaders to collaborate, discuss, and find solutions for social issues. Our goal is to develop leaders with stronger social awareness and entrepreneurship spirit to pursue opportunities overseas.

I have an opportunity to represent North America, to impact a society, and share my culture. Because this is a volunteer opportunity, the conference team can only cover my room and food but not transportation (flight). I would need donations to pay for my plane ticket round-trip from Toronto, Canada to Tokyo, Japan. Any donation will help me! Thank you so much for donating and helping me develop my leadership skills. I know this will lead to something even bigger! I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS!

Please let me know if you are having donation issues. Thank you!
