Safe Harbor - My Friends' Place

All programs of Safe Harbor Support Center such as Taming the Dragons and My Friends' Place provide services to children and teens in our community.
Taming the Dragons is an intervention program that focuses on positive discipline, self esteem and self soothing techniques that will help a child succeed in an educational setting and overcome past traumatic events. Taming the Dragons is closed for the summer in accordance with the school calendar. This program will resume September 2nd, 2014.
Safe Harbor's progam, My Friends' Place, is Southeastern Washington's first safe overnight sanctuary for homeless teens and is currently providing immediate basic human survival needs for youth on the streets; warm meals, showers, laundry, and a safe place to rest, for youth ages 13 through 19.
The community had been generously supporting all of Safe Harbors programs with in-kind and item donations.
Sadly, we have recenty had to cut back our hours of operation to reduce operating costs. The number of kids coming to the agency continues to grow but our funding has not. We have been operating at a deficit for a number of years.
