Aza's Big Battle

For those who don't know me I'm Nicole (Aaron's sister) and this is his story. On the 16th of August 2017, my brother was admitted to Wyong hospital with suspected pneumonia, on the morning of the 17th of August my parents would receive a phone call that would change all of our lives forever. Aaron had contacted streptococcus A in his blood, which in laymans terms means it attacks all of his vital organs. We were told to 'prepare for the worst' and to say 'goodbye' at each visit because it may well have been our last. Aaron, then went on to battle the biggest battle of his 42years. He was on life support and was in a medical induced coma for 11 long days. His life was spared 3 times in these 11 days. He was brought out of his coma on day 12 and he became very aware of his surroundings but was still very ill. During these 12 days it was also found that Aaron had another infection (bacteria) that was in the valves of his heart. To say he hit the 'mother load' of infections would be an understatement. For 4 weeks Aaron has battled slowly along and has just been moved from ICU into the renial ward where he will stay for the time being. Life as we know it and life for Aaron are now going to be vastly different from the life we all once knew. Because of Aaron's illness and how hard it attacked his body, he is also in all likelihood going to lose a limb at this stage. Which is completely and utterly devastating to us and most importantly Aaron.I (Nicole) have been asked by many relatives, friends and perfect strangers what they can do for him. So I've decided to set this page up. If you can donate, that would be amazing, as you can understand he is now up for a lifetime of medical expenses. We will be holding a fundraising dinner at a later date, so that Aaron can attend. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you all for your love and support at this extremely difficult time.
