We are reaching out to everyone because we are in desperate need of help. We are brothers, my name is Gerardo and I am 23 years old, my younger brother is Daniel who is 22 years old. We both suffer from a severe illeness called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Which has no cure and is genetic disorder characterized by progressive muslce degeration and weakness.
At this point we cannot move our arms, we cannot stand, we have no strenght to lift our arms or our legs, we cannot walk, we cannot use the bathroom on our own nor feed ourselves, We cannot move any part of our body to be indepent people. We are currently parallized from the neck down.
Our mother, does everything for us, from feeding us, cleaning us, taking us to the bathroom or to our beds.In order to help us off of our wheelchairs she uses a special lifter, bu tis now failing. It is getting very difficult for her to lift us from one place to another. Also we need beds because the ones we have now are falling apart and wires are sticking out. Another critical thing that we need are wheelchairs because our current ones are not working properly anymore. We are only asking for help until now because we see how our mother is struggling now more than ever.
The funds we raise will be used for a new lifter or to fix the one we have, for new and adequate beds and new wheelchairs or to fix them as well if is possible to do so.
Currently, we are in need of many, many things that would help us at least to live with dignity and a bit of confort, which is something we have not known for a while.
