Beds for Homeless Students

"How can we expect children who have no bed to dream about their future."The increase in the number of homeless and transient students in US public schools is alarming.  As a nearly 20 year classroom veteran, I have never experienced a growing epidemic in our schools such as this. 

Recently, I have been impacted both personally, and professionally, by heart breaking stories from students in my school and in my community who have no bed, share a bed with multple siblings, or "couch surf" for weeks at a time.

The reasons are all different, but the results are always the same:  the loss of stability, comfort, and hope

Providing portable beds  will not solve all the challenges a homeless student faces, but it can ensure they will alwyas be able to rest their head on their own bed.

A unique partnership with Disc-o-Bed led to the founding of One Head-One Bed, a non-profit organization focused on soliciting donations to provide beds for students in public schools who have been identified as homeless/transient. 

We can begin to change the futute for so many-
One Head and One Bed at a time.
