here's what happened:

♥ - 06.01.15: i was going to work. covering another office, roughly 50 minutes from my house. i was driving during rush hour on i95. i was in the far left lane of four lanes. i hit on the left side and lost control of my car.

then this: i began to 360 in circles - once, twice, and half a third. going from left to right, across the interstate during rush hour. colors - a red car, a blue one, maybe two or three semis - smoke, the smell of fire, and then the backwards twist into a ditch where i realized that i had landed in the safety in green, green grass - and not against another car - not ran over by semi-truck. not dead. it ran through my mind over and over and over - i was not dead - not a single person hit me and somehow i was alive.

in four lanes of traffic, i made if across with only a damaged car. at the time, at least.

♥ - 06.02.15: i worked, the next day. they wanted me to work the same day but i was too shaken up. come the next few days - it’s harder to walk. i work medical. i know the following things: after a car accident, symptoms may not show up for a few days. this is what happened to me. the limping around the office. the pain in the knee cap. it's time to get help.

♥ - 06.05.15: after work that friday, the 5th of june, i go to the doctor, i get an MRI the following week on a STAT order; results? torn meniscus, patellar dysfunctional issues, tons of inflammation. compared to my last mri on my right knee: gone from 100% clean to knowing what i know comes next.

♥ - 06.11.15 - 07.01.2015: next is pre-op, day surgery (06.17.2015); a follow-up appointment with the surgeon in two weeks; crutches before and after -  immobilizer - no work. i cannot drive. i can only use crutches or rely on rides and/or uber or lyft to get my medical appointments and or medications (which i am getting to the point that i an no longer afford).

my family has offered to help and i allow them, but sometimes i feel bad and i just go through these services. there's only so many times you can call your mother who lives an hour away or aunt who works crazy hours herself.. i just can't ask for help time and time again.

 they cannot help me financially. it is hard to explain my parents situation so i'll avoid that. but i learned a lesson through this all:

i need an emergency fund. even though we've spent most on the wedding details and costs, those thousands needed to be an emergency fund. lesson learned and to be acted upon as soon as i am financially capable of it.

♥ - now: currently i am working with every bill due - including rent - to see if i can just get by on the bare minimums. i had just spent three weeks off with my best friend before the accident, and due to this, i had no paid time off remaining. so, i am behind at least one month on the following bills: cable and internet, water, electrcity, cell phone, rent, and  almost every single one of my credit card bills.

on top of this, i have medical bills coming in - they increase by the day with a new bill each time i check the mail. luckily these will not be sent to collections until 90-120 days so even though they are in the thousands, i can hold off on them and focus on making sure things like electric, water, and internet stay on.
