As of now (2016) an estimated 1,237,824 people are living with, or are in remission form Leukemia, Lymphoma, or Myeloma.* This staggering number is in the U.S. alone. “Away From The Ribbon” is a short film centering around a young girl and her struggles with a Leukemia diagnosis. Jester Pictures has teamed up with Love Hope Strength, an affiliate partner of DKMS, during the making of this film with the intention of raising awareness and funding for the "Get on the List" campaign, to add more donors to the bone marrow registry to help save the lives of other patients in need of a transplant.
“Away From The Ribbon” is based on a short story written by Ella Schnoor who was 12 years old at the time it was written. Inspired by her Grandmother’s strength during a long battle with breast cancer, Ella created an insightful and touching story told through the eyes of a young girl. During a short visit with the Schnoors, Jarek Zabczynski and Ryan Katzer of Jester Pictures became spellbound by Ella’s passion. The result is a soul-searching and heartwarming short film. Our goal, through your help, is to cover the cost of spreading the word. We are looking to raise money to complete and distribute the film through film festivals.
Half of the money raised will be donated to Love Hope Strength, an affiliate partner of DKMS, and help to fight Leukemia and other blood borne diseases.
Any amount helps, but we have set incentive goals to give back to you.
All donations are tiered and each tiered amount will receive the lower tiers as well.
$1 or more donation - A personal thank you video emailed to you from our team for helping make this film possible, as well as being listed in the credits.
$50 donation- Signed copy of the film. Blu-Ray or DVD.
$100 donation- Signed mini-poster and copy of the film.
$150 donation- Full size signed poster and copy of the film.
$250 donation- Special Guest Invite to the Red Carpet opening screening in Winchester VA. Date TBD. Transportation and accomodations excluded.
$500 donation- Walk on role in an upcoming Jester Pictures film. Transportation and accomodations excluded.
$1,000 donation- Become a producer on our film. Join our team, get constant updates and see our progress. Give feedback and help us make the critical decisions
in the completion of the project.
$3,000 donation- This one's a long shot but we're throwing it out there! We know some of you have dreams of getting your own films made. Let us make one of your films. For $3,000 or more we'll fully produce a 5-10 minute short film, written and/or conceived by you! Let's keep those ideas reasonalble and limit the number of explosions please!
