I am Susanne Gann, and I am a victim of cyberbullying.

Cyberbullying is on a rampage and often leads to real life harassment. This is a legal fund to help victims of cyberbullies  fight back in court, victims who have faced real life harassment as a direct result of online attacks.

In recent months a group of individuals have been targeted by an individual who uses the internet as a weapon to target innocent, unsuspecting private individuals. He has created a public Facebook page with a considerable following; the page shows 85k+ Likes. This individual also reaches out to a long list of media outlets and organizations in order to share his messages and picture images. He uses these outlets to incite his followers and others to take action to harass, threaten and intimidate private citizens. He accomplishes this harassment through distortion of comments these people have made, by outright fabrication and libel, and by obtaining and publishing their private information without their consent or knowledge on a public forum.

This individual creates and publishes images specifying private individuals. To these images he then adds his own inflammatory statements such as *SHARE SHARE SHARE*, *MAKE THIS PERSON FAMOUS*, *MAKE THIS GO VIRAL*, *EXPOSE HER*. Because his page can be viewed by any member of the public, many of the people who see these posts then act upon what he has published. They frequently bombard the private individuals who are the subject of the images with ugly, often threatening private messages.

In the meantime, the people being targeted are initially unaware as to what is happening. What usually happens is that the individuals eventually notice a humungous volume of vile messages directed at them both within their Facebook private messages and on their public wall posts. Once they see these messages it can cause them apprehension and fear for their personal safety. The harassment hasn’t stopped there. Several victims have faced real life harassment and death threats as a direct result of this.

This individual operates with impugnity, appealing to the most base elements of our society, stirring up hate and intolerance. He has created fake posts on social media, impersonating his victims. He has encouraged his many thousand followers to harass his victims beligerently based on the fabricated posts. Stochastic terrorism is a favorite tactic as this cyberbully made an appeal to his many thousands of followers to intimidate Mike and Tami Duncan. He proudly claimed to believe in "street justice". This is the same sort of thing that happened to Darren Remington and myself. More detail about these tactics can be found in this article: Breeding Ground for Racism

Many more examples of these victims go back over the course of a year. It was at the end of December 2013; the most egregious act occurred and garnished an enormous amount of exposure, both good and bad. This action included the publishing of an individual’s private and personal information along with a fabricated post. It caught the attention of hundreds of thousands of people nationwide and led to severe threats and harassment towards an innocent private individual.

*Please note we have blurred out personal information that was shared by the cyber-bully in order to protect these individuals from further harassment.

Several individuals have spoken out against these activities and in doing so some have become targets of this cyber-bully’s harassment. This harassment has included but was not limited to having their private and personal information shared online in large public forums, threats to their jobs, and now the filing of a frivolous lawsuit designed to squelch their freedom of speech coupled with an attempt to seek compensatory damages of $1.5 million.

These individuals have now collectively decided to fight back and put a stop to this harassment by seeking justice in a court of law. They need your help as this will be a costly, yet worthwhile venture to set a precedent for online bullying and the stochastic terrorism it breeds.

To get legal action actually started against this particular cyber-bully and his cohorts, we are seeking $25,000 but have been told by attorneys that the final cost could easily exceed $100,000.

Any proceeds raised in excess of legal expenses will be given to the Disabled American Veteran's organization (DAV). "DAV is the most long-lasting veterans advocacy and assistance group in this country." Learn more about the DAV here. ( DAV Mission Statement )

To get legal action actually started against this particular cyber-bully and his cohorts, we are seeking $25,000 but have been told by attorneys that the final cost could easily exceed $100,000. We have updated the goal amount to reflect the start-up cost only. As things progress and we have more knowledge of actual costs, the goal amount will be updated accordingly. The description has been changed, in that it is more detailed and hopefully will bring greater awareness to the issues we are faced against. A HUGE THANKS to all who have donated and/or shared this page!! From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
