Avila Family Medical Bills

Donation protected
Dear Friends & Family, As many of you know, my husband, Mynor, had a near fatal stroke on 12/8/18 and was in the hospital for 3 days.  We have been to so many specialists and doctors who couldn't find the root cause. Then, his cardiologist did a TEE test and found a hole in his heart on 2/27/19 called a PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale) which has been there since he was born. This was why his stroke was so rapid in it's onset. The hole in his heart let a blood clot pass through his heart with ease and straight to his brain. Mynor had his heart surgically repaired on 3/21/19 with an "Umbrella" procedure and now has a device permanently in his heart to keep the hole closed. His next step in treatment is to get a monitor implanted below his skin, above his heart, to monitor his heart for the next year or 2. That isn't scheduled yet, but will probably be done in April. Mynor's doctors still want him out of work and continuing his therapy  for at least another 4-6 weeks to keep regaining strength on his right size (the side that was paralyzed during the stroke) and his heart after this procedure.  Unfortunately, his temporary disability has run out... but our medical and regular bills are still coming in.  What we haven't told everyone was that in the middle of Mynor's medical crisis, I too, became extremely ill. On 1/1/19, our son, Lionel "Leo", plopped in my lap while we were playing on the floor (& letting Mynor rest) and I saw *STARS* I was in so much pain. It caused hours of vomiting & pain similar to when I had had Kidney Stones in the past and thought that was the problem. So for 2 days, I tried to "catch" my stone, but to no avail. On 1/3/19, I went to urgent care where they did a CT with contrast and Ultrasounds. They confirmed that it wasn't kidney stones, but 2 cysts hugging my left ovary.  My OBGYN and I planned to watch the cysts for the next 6 weeks and if they didn't shrink, we would surgically remove them.  I was sick & in pain everyday of January and my doctor said we needed to move forward with ER surgery. On 2/6/19, I went into laparoscopic surgery to remove the cysts and came out without my left ovary or fallopian tube. My doctor told me that it was actually 1 complex cyst hugging my ovary and that it wasn't healthy or viable anymore. He also saw that I had horrible endometriosis and he cortorized all of it off of my uterus while he was in there. Unfortunately, I became horribly ill right after the surgery and for the next 4 days I was not keeping anything down. After speaking to my OBGYN my father rushed me to the ER to meet my doctor there and was admitted into the hospital on 2/10/19 for dehydration and observation ((I apparently was so low on fluids/nutrients that I could have had a heart attack)). At my follow up appointment, my OBGYN said that there was also a benign tumor in my ovary so it was a good thing that he took it out! I'm finally feeling much better and am back to taking care of Mynor and Leo and getting into work in between all of Mynor's doctor's & therapy appointments.  But, as with many families, just my salary can't pay all our regular bills, let alone the mounting medical bills between the two of us. I truly did not want to go this route in asking for help, but our primary doctor actually told us that we should so Mynor gets the necessary rest & peace of mind he needs to feel more normal before clearing him to go back to work again.  Please donate anything that you can, every penny will help us get through this difficult time! If you aren't able to, please share on social media so we can hopefully keep our head's above water in the meantime! Thank you all in advance, your generosity is beyond appreciated!  Humbly Appreciative, Kristin, Mynor & Lionel "Leo" Avila
