Military Honor Guard Needs Transportation Help - $7,500.00 GoalHistory/Mission:
The Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard (AVHG) was established in March of 2014 to address the need to provide every honorably discharged veteran in the Southwest Louisiana area, with Military Funeral Honors. Our services include casket posting, flag folding, 21 Gun Salute and taps. Also Flag Presentations for veteran events.
In 2018 alone, we have provided services to 184 events, which is 35% increase over 2017 and growing each year. When we started AVHG, we limited our service coverage to a 25 mile radius of Lafayette, Louisiana. But over the last 3 years our request for services have increased to a 60 mile radius of Lafayette, Louisiana. Presently AVHG members drive their own Vehicles to each event or we try to car pool when possible. All AVHG members are ex-military and most of our members are retire or retired military, on a fixed income and presently cover transportation cost out of their own pockets. Also AVHG provides each member with a $500.00 uniform, which takes most of our donated funds.
AVHG is a not for profit organization. We do not receive any funding from Federal, State or local governments. We rely completely on the generosity of those who share the promise that every Southwest Louisiana veteran shall be buried with dignity and honor. We are a tax exempt 501C-19 organization and such donations are taxable deductable.

We need help with transportation cost.
At this time, United Veterans League, based in Houma, Louisiana has donate to AVHG, their used 15 passenger van with only 29,000 mile. See photo.
We have estimated expenses for insurance, decal update, fuel, and maintenance for the next year. Based on our last years services. Without these funds AVHG will NOT be able to afford the donated van. Your help would be greatly appreciated to continue our service to our deceased comrades and there families.
