Avery James Truitt came into the world on August 10th, 2015, in a truly unique and unexpected way. After going to the hospital, a nurse sent his Mama home until it would be closer to her delivery time. However, just as they returned home, they needed to turn back around to the hospital, Avery made his big debut in the front seat of their mini van! It was clear that Avery's journey would be like no other, but no one could be prepared for what was to come.

After 6 months of age Avery became ill, what was said to have been a virus progressed into needing a feeding tube, followed by visiting doctor after doctor for check ups, tests, second opinions, specialists, etc. Avery's parents continued until they reached an answer, an answer that would change their future forever. Avery was diagnosed at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with an extremely rare condition. A condition that could not be cured.

With hope and faith, the family dedicated long days and nights at the hospital, traveling from their home in North Carolina to The Children's Hospital, which was one of the few teams able to treat Avery's condition. Avery's mom stayed by his side every day and night, loving, supporting and advocating for him, while his Dad continued to work and take care of Avery's 2 year old brother at home, visiting on weekends.

Avery James Truitt, 13 months old, went to the arms of God on October 7th, 2016.

Avery's constant sweet smile, clapping his hands, and beautiful bright blue eyes, had the power to bring an amazing amount of joy and memories to those around him. You only had to look into his twinkling eyes to see the extraordinary soul behind them. Avery lived a life not many could endure. He was strong when he felt ill and always could light up a room no matter what the circumstances were. Although Avery's life on earth was short lived, his impact and memories will last a lifetime.

Keeping with Avery's spirit, his tissues were donated to science in hopes of helping other children and families faced with the same difficult path Avery was.

Now I am asking you to help his family...

Funds raised through gofundme will help support Avery's family in their financial struggle from outstanding medical bills, which helped give Avery the chance at a life full of love and comfort for as long as possible. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated and will help relieve the family of the stress associated with medical and funeral expenses in exchange for time to mourn, strengthen themselves, and their family during an already devastating period.

Please continue to keep Avery's family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to each and every one of you for your support.
