Autism Awareness Racing Tent

I am the proud parent for two Autistic boys. They are young (10, 13) and are amazing kids. They have taught us many lessons about life and love. Will and Dale are very healthy and happy kids and we are fortunate to be able to say that. Other families have health issues and behavioral challenges that make simple things like grocery shopping or buying cloths near impossible.

Here is a fact about Autism reported by CNN and the CDC.

United States: One in 68 U.S. children has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a 30% increase from 1 in 88 in 2012, according to a 2014 report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

I race mountain bikes and share the passion and freedom of bikes with my kids and whole family. My goal this year is to have a 10' X 10' pop-up tent with Autism Awareness graphics that I will bring to all races. Also, I would like to have my race clothing (helmet, jersey and shorts) with Autism graphics as well. The race season here in the Northeast is a few months away and I will need that time to organize the materials needed for the season.

The ultimate goal is this. Through proper education, screening, assessment and intervention we can dramatically decrease the negative impacts of their emotional and social isolation, allowing them to express their ideas, learn from others, participate in life and be the contributors, creators, inventors, problems solvers, and agents of change and progress that is in all of us.

I love my kids and would do anything in the world for them, so why not tie in my two passions for a bigger cause.

Here is my proposed jersey for the season.

Thanks for your time.
