Australian Women's Day

Woman to woman is how we create the revolution.

We know the story of woman; she’s tired, exhausted, lonely, and/or juggling far too much. Putting other people's needs above her own.

Not enough time for family or friends. Impossible to live up to societal pressures about her body, her clothes, the colour of her hair.

She’s juggling more now than any generation in history.  She knows that things need to shift. She just doesn’t know where to start. She doesn’t even have time to think about it.

She’s searching for community and connection but Facebook isn’t cutting it.

She’s waiting for leaders that’ll inspire and move her. She has no faith in the solutions coming from our politicians. Worse, she sees politicians dividing us.

We know this has to stop. We have to be the change we're waiting for.

Together we can do this.

We the women want you to know that your wisdom changes minds. Your giving changes lives. Your story changes the world.

We need you and you need us. Woman to woman is how we create the revolution.

It’s time to write her-story and this is how we do it: we gather together on a day that’s just for us, Australian Women's Day. A day for all of us to laugh, to dance, to remember how to be in circle with one another.

We share our stories. We give voice to the women who’ve been silenced and dismissed. We harness the power of our collective voices. We have the conversations they don’t want us to have.

We take those stories and document them. Collating statistics that show us exactly what’s happening to women and girls in this country.

And we pool our resources. We create a national fund for women and girls. Not a government grant that’s affected by party politics and hidden agendas. A fund that has one agenda; woman.

We, the founders of Australian Women's Day, have set this all in motion. We've spent most of this year planning the day. We've put everything on hold to create this for the women and girls of Australia. We've got events happening around the country on 22 September. We've started gathering women's stories, and we're putting the structures in place to support a national fund and a national day for generations to come.

But we're only three mums with a handful of volunteers supporting us. We can't do much more on our own. We've given our all and we need your financial support to take this - the women's revolution - to the next stage.

We want to build this with you. We want women to finally be the ones who set the agenda.

Australian Women’s Day is the catalyst we've been waiting for and we need money to seed fund the day, building from here to 2019 and beyond. To start, we're focused on:
(i) setting up and running the Australian Women's Day podcast 'We the Women',
(ii) creating a trust fund (a legal entity to manage the national fund),
(iii) filming women's stories,
(iv) paying legal fees,
(v) acquiring deductible gift recipient (DGR) status, and
(vi) setting up an Identity Council to ensure that all women's voices and interests are represented.

Together we can do this. Woman to woman is how we create the revolution.
