Hey everyone!
I'm Rachael, proud mother to one who's been playing American Football (Gridiron) since 2013. Coming from a family of sport lovers and growing up watching contact sports, I decided to give gridiron a go. I instantly loved it and haven't left!
In recent exciting news, I have been selected to represent Australia in our country's first ever women's gridiron team at the 2017 IFAF Women's World Championships in Canada!
This selection came from over a year of hard work and two intense training camps, one in Feb 2016 and the other this year in Feb that consisted of 2 x 2.5 hours of training each day, a huge challenge physically and mentally! All the football during these years can be tough on my body, pocket and time.
However through the sacrifice of time and finance, the sweat, tears, bruises, pushing through injury, doubts and hardship - my dream came true.
The first ever Australian women's gridiron team, a 52 strong player squad has been selected from the camps to travel to Canada and compete against other nations such as USA, Germany, Mexico and more.
Unfortunately the sport is not currently funded and each player is required to cover the cost themselves to participate.
This amount would fund what is needed from me to provide for flights, accommodation, uniform/equipment.
I greatly appreciate any and every bit of assistance I'm given! Thank you so much for contributing your time and support! One Team One Dream!
