Australian Wildlife Rescue Mission

I became a certified and vaccinated Australian wildlife rescue volunteer with WIRES when I lived in NSW 10 years ago. The current catastrophic conditions, particularly for the Flying Fox, have compelled me to book a 2 week visit to help with the overwhelming rescue efforts. My social network friends from around the world know of my advocacy for the Flying Fox among the other native AU fauna and have been contacting me to ask which organizations to donate to. After deciding to make a trip over there to assist the hardest hit area, I thought I’d offer the opportunity for anyone looking to support the rescue efforts to be able to do so and allow you to virtually join me as I document everything including the actual animals that your donations help to save and rehabilitate. Please know that the magnitude of this disaster has never before been seen and there has been and will continue to be huge losses. I will be sensitive to graphic portrayal and do my best to keep documentation on a positive note but truth will be shared as tastefully as I can manage. It will be grueling long days and we will all be exhausted at times but I’ll do my best to stay positive in the interest of education and awareness. Many species will be documented but I imagine the main focus will be one of Australia’s keystone species, the Flying Fox who’s pollination and seed disbursement duties are responsible for healthy forestation which most other animals rely on for habitat and survival. I will be there the last week of Jan and first week of Feb 2020.
Funds will be used for rescue supplies including medical supplies and rental / gasoline for the transport vehicle I will operating. (My flight, lodging and food is my own expense.) All unused funds at the end of my trip will be sent in perpetuity directly to the organizers you will personally meet through this journey.
