Aurora, Cancer warrior

Aurora Leigh Morin was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when she was only 5 1/2 months old. Her initial diagnosis was devastating yet hopeful.  The tumor was wrapped around her spine. This resulted in nerve damage and paralysis. The doctors weren't sure Rori would walk or have a normal life . She proved them wrong.  As happens with many cancers, hers came back with a vengeance when she was around three and the doctor's outlook was not good. They said she might not survive. She proved them wrong. They said the cancer would come back. And it did. Aggressively. Again.  They said she wouldn't overcome it again. She did. Little 8 year old Rori just keeps on proving them wrong. She is a tenacious little sweetheart with big dreams and hopes. On December 7th she and her mom Dawn will make the trek from Michigan, their home, to Chicago Shriners hospital to have a complicated and difficult surgery. Due to Aurora's nerve damage and limited mobility, she must have an operation on her pelvis. It is very evasive and she will endure a lengthy and painful recovery.
Dawn will have to purchase many items such as medicine and a wheelchair that won't be covered by her insurance. Add to this the added pressure of travel expenses and Dawn being unable to work for at least six weeks while she helps her daughter heal from the surgery.  The procedure will require Rori to remain immobilized and have no weight bearing activity forthe duration of her recovery. Aurora has four siblings in the home and the last eight years of her fight has weighed heavily on their finances. In a single-parent household the situation seems dire. Our hope is to raise some money to help provide a decent Christmas for Aurora and her siblings, as well as to alleviate some of the financial concerns weighing on Dawn. Unfortunately the bills do not stop when we are faced with hardships like these!
