Stand by Mom

This is hard for me to do because I don’t share intimate details about my family on social media but this is a dire situation. My mother Cynthia Miller has been in the hospital for four and a half months. She has various complications related to Kidney disease and a neurological disorder called Transverse Myelitis.
She spent several months on a ventilator with tubes down her throat. They finally took her off the ventilator but they had to give her a tracheotomy.

She's had a feeding tube in her stomach for months now because she can't consume food by mouth. She has become paralyzed from the waist down and only has minimum movement in her arms, hands, and neck. This has been a very hard road that I and my family have been on with my mother. It has undoubtedly been the hardest for her because she has remained conscious throughout this experience. My mother has lost the ability to talk so she communicates by shaking her head and rolling her eyes. She frequently cries because of the physical pain she is experiencing. She has spent many nights awake crying in tremendous pain.

It’s hard watching mother like this because most of her life she's been a very vocal person. Now she spends most of her time depressed in the loneliness of her thoughts. Mother is a strong minded person and with little rehabilitation that has been offered to her she has made significant recoveries. She went from not being able to do anything but roll her eyes to being able to move her arms, hands, and neck in the course of her stay at the hospital.

Mother has a graceful spirit and has been a care giver to many. She's been a great mother of two and a faithful loving wife to my father Michael Miller Sr. for nearly 30 years. She has been a counselor to me and many others in their time of need. She always went the extra mile to make others smile. I and my family are doing everything that we can to provide for her but we need help.

Mother has accumulated a substantial amount of medical expenses and she needs further treatment. She needs to be transferred to a facility outside of South Carolina. South Carolina doesn’t have any facilities that specialize in the care that mother needs.

Originally we found a facility in Philadelphia but we were unable to provide the funds for transpotation in time and her condition has worsened. That hospital will no longer take mother because she no longer meets their criteria. We're now looking at trying to get her to Boston, MA. There she can recieve further examination and treatment for her Neurological Disorder.

Boston has professionals that are adept in their knowledge of Neurology. The hospital we're trying to get mother to has agreed to accomodate her in her current condition. The only problem is that because of the complexity of her condition she can not be transfered via ground transportation. Ground transportation would take too long so she must be transfered via plane. However, this is VERY costly.

We want to get mother to Boston but we need your help. Any funds offered will be greatly appreciated. If you feel it in your heart to be generous please help by giving a donation.
