Astro's Ear Surgery

Donation protected

UPDATE 2/26/18
I have some bad news. Astro is sick again.

Because the surgeon decided that the total ear canal ablation wasn't necessary, Astro has a new ear infection and a new polyp growth in his ear canal. My vet still strongly feels that Astro should have the ablation surgery and I agree. If the surgeon had just done that in the first place Astro would be completely healed and healthy by now.

My vet will be reaching out to a few different surgeons to find one who will take Astro's chronic infections and polyps into consideration. The original surgeon decided not to do the ablation based on their dermatologist's recommendation and I feel like the dermatologist didn't take Astro's history into consideration. I'm going to be very firm this time. My poor cat has had enough surgeries! This one needs to be his last!

I will keep you updated on how this progresses. I'm so grateful for all your help before. I feel terrible that I have to reach out to you again... I won't be able to offer a reward this time around, but if you could signal boost this page it would mean the world to me.

Thank you so much!

Astro, best friend to all, is a 4 year old Tuxie that I rescued from neglectful owners 3 years ago. He came to me with severe ear mites which set into motion 3 years of painful, chronic ear infections. He also developed a problem with polyps growing in his right ear which aggravated the infections. After two surgeries to remove the polyps, they have grown back yet again and we need to take a more drastic approach to resolve this once and for all. Astro needs to have a total ear canal ablation in his right ear so can live out the rest of his life happy, healthy, and pain free! (PLEASE READ UPDATE 8 FOR A SUMMARY OF ASTRO'S PROCEEDURE.)

Rescuing Astro was one of the best decisions of my life. He is literally the friendliest cat I have ever met. My 17 month old son ADORES HIM. Astro ("dat-doh") was his first word. Astro lets my son lay on top of him and pull his tail without ever getting offended. He is the best cat in my world and I want to help him live his best possible life!

Astro Space Catdet Pin!!
I'm offering an enamel lapel pin as a reward to those that want one! Here are the specs:

• Hard enamel lapel pin plated in black nickel.
• Screen printed detail on space helmet.
• Double posted with two black PVC rubber clutches.
• Approximately 35mm (1.38 inches) tall.

Digital mock-up.

I'm no longer offering the pin through this campaign! It's too confusing for me to keep track of "orders" through GoFundMe. If you would like to buy a pin to help me pay off Astro's surgery bill, please click here . Thank you!

FINAL COSTS
The final bill for Astro's surgery was $3084.41. I'm adjusting the goal to $3500 which should more than cover the bill and GoFundMe fees and incidentals. I'll be paying for the pins and shipping them to you out of pocket. If I can get Astro's bill paid off we will be okay!

Once we reach the goal, the Astro Space Catdet pin will be retired. So it will be a Limited Edition!

BEST FRIEND TO ALL.

If you love kitties and enamel pins, please consider making a donation!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT!
