Astronomy and Science Centre

Donation protected
See our incredible universe CLOSE UP through one of the largest, and some of the best, publicly accessible telescopes in Australia!  We have the telescopes, we have the land and now we’re building an Astronomy and Science Education Centre, Planetarium Theatre and Observatory to share the wonders of night sky with YOU - here’s your opportunity to help!

The Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club Inc is a group of local residents in the Tamworth region of New South Wales, Australia from various backgrounds and professions who share an interest in astronomy.  This community, not-for-profit organisation, which has rapidly grown to over 50 members, has been formed to enable people of all ages to learn more about and explore our exciting and amazing universe!

The Club is fortunate indeed to have been donated one of the largest privately owned optical telescopes in Australia, the 36 inch ‘Jos Roberts Telescope’, and we are dedicated to sharing the stunning views of our cosmos though this massive instrument.  The Club also owns a number of other high quality, large telescopes and has recently acquired one of only two 34 inch Hewitt Cameras in the world, constructed in the 1960’s to track artificial satellites and now being converted for wide field astronomical digital photography.

The Club has been allocated a parcel of land by Tamworth Regional Council in the Victoria Park precinct adjacent to the Botanic Gardens in East Tamworth to construct an Astronomy and Science Education Centre and Planetarium Theatre with a Roll-off Roof Observatory to house the ‘Jos Roberts Telescope' as well as the Club’s collection of other telescopes.

All donations received via this site will be allocated by the Club’s Committee towards the construction of the Roll-off Roof Observatory, fittings and fixtures, equipment and the development of stage 2 of the project, including the Planetarium Theatre.

This excellent community initiative will provide the opportunity for local residents, students and visitors to the Tamworth region to directly view the moon, planets, stars, galaxies, star clusters and many more astronomical objects and learn more about our amazing universe of which we are just a very small part!

The Club has authorised one of our members, Joel Gleeson of Tamworth, to establish this GoFundMe campaign.  All donations submitted via this site are automatically transferred to the Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club’s account at the Northern Inland Credit Union, Tamworth.  Should any verification of this fundraising campaign be required, please don’t hesitate to contact the Club’s Executive via the telephone and e-mail address details provided at the Club’s website at www.tracthestars.weebly.com   We would be delighted to provide you with additional information.

Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club Incorporated (ABN 84 263 614 114) is a not-for -profit organisation and a registered charity endorsed for GST concession, income tax exempt and FBT rebate.

Your support for this fantastic community project is greatly appreciated and we look forward to sharing the wonders of the night sky with you!

With sincere thanks!
