Hi There!

Champions of Racial Equality in Arts, Theatre, and Education, Inc. (create, inc.) is a non-profit organization that 1) provides performance opportunities to artists of color, particularly of African American decent, to strengthen their artistic voice, 2) allows audiences of color to witness their stories lifted into art by those who come from their community, and 3) additionally gives all communities  insight and understanding of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups other than their own.

We wholeheartedly believe that our end product: accurate and meaningful story telling can have a positive impact on every participant on or off the stage. It is the responsibility of the artists, staff, and our creative partners to collectively share in constructing that product as it is imperative to our core values as an organization, and we contend to the growth of human society.

We believe we are empowering a generation of griots, storytellers in a position of nobility or leadership, who will continue to tell the stories of those before them and those to come. We believe in the value of African American stories, and that stories are a communal currency of humanity. We seek to use them to enrich the lives of everyone we touch.

We are raising money to fund our Spring 2016 run of Their Eyes Were Watching God, A Stage Play, an adaptation of the famed novel by Zora Neale Hurston.  We believe this story and many others like them provide audiences with an artistically elevated view of the interior of Black American life.

All the funds used will be used to create and market the art. We will acquire the space, hire actors, crew, build a set, print needed materials, and market our run with a Harlem based public relations firm. No donation is too small and we really do mean that and every dollar is for the art!
