A Spoonful of Gratitude

What is 'A Spoonful of Gratitude'?
Our community project is called ‘A Spoonful of Gratitude’. This year in 2017, we would like to bring people together to share gratitude for each other first and foremost. Too often, we wait until we experience a loss, a death or a divorce before we stop and acknowledge those we love. At 'A spoonful of Gratitude', we would like to inspire you to stop and be grateful for what you have right now and whilst we are together make a difference to the life of another.

How are we delivering the project?

We are doing this by bringing people together over a series of gratitude feasts and picnics either organised by our volunteers or organised by you! On the day, we invite you to cook and bring along a special dish and the story behind it. The dishes will be photographed and the stories recorded to become part of a cookbook which will be published later on this year.

Why do we need to crowdfund?
Our target is to raise $20,000 this year for a charity called www.feedthelittlechildren.org.au. The charity cooks, and delivers 300 meals  to young Indigenous kids in Broome, aged between 3-18 on Fridays and Saturdays (approx 100 homes). The goal is to deliver this program 7 days and introduce a cooking program to the families, most of whom are single parent families. State government statistics have shown direct correlation to reducing crime rates on those nights by over 80% since this program has been implemented.

Every $20 you donate will provide 1 child 5 guaranteed nutritious meals a week.

In addition to keeping this charity going, part of the funds will be used for the start up costs of publishing the cookbook. Wild Dingo in Melbourne, Australia have already put their hand up to publish this book. The budget for this is estimated at $8K.

Once the book is printed, we will donate 100% of the proceeds back to Feed The Little Children. Your donation now will have a flow on effect in the future.

What have we achieved to date?
On the 7th May 2017, we launched the project in Melbourne over a shared feast. On that day over 120 people attended and 45 recipes/dishes were gifted.

The cookbook will  capture themes of diversity, gratitude, legacy, love and above all delicious, heart warming and nurturing recipes.

So what are our next goals?
We are still seeking more recipes and are now looking at creating other feasts in the community. In September, we celebrate World Gratitude Day and this may be the perfect opportunity to create your own feast.

We are also now looking at bringing our concept into the corporate world, an environment where the word gratitude is not often spoken. We are now reaching out to companies to take our concept on and get the staff to cook a dish and share with your colleagues so we can find out more about the person behind the job! And raise some monies for Feed The little Children of course! We are pleased to report that Mirvac recently put on a feast for the staff and $600 was raised.

Our ongoing vision is for all types of communities to come together over a feast, picnic, kitchen table or backyard. Every gathering small or large makes a difference and you can do this!

Gather your families, loved ones, those you have not seen for a long time, girlfriends, mums, dads, work colleagues and get  grateful for each other whilst you can and collect some funds to come to us to get our word out in the community.

We thank you in advance for your generosity!

Every little bit counts...
Every spoonful counts...
Every meal counts.....
