New York founded, and New Mexico based, Sparrow Dance Productions is a multifaceted contemporary dance company featuring proscenium stage work, collaborative outreach performances, and venue specific projects. Our work is socially relevant and applicable to the needs of our community. We strive to serve others with captivating dance experiences that impact the lives of our viewers while applying our works to community outreach programs.
MISSION
As a non-profit organization, Sparrow Dance Productions’ mission is to target the needs of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and the greater Albuquerque area, using dance and collaborative arts, in all its mediums, to help heal community trauma, as well as encourage positive growth, via outreach, mentorship programs, and performance for all ages with all ages. Do not only dance but fly. Do not only fly but soar. Do not only soar but conquer.
GOALS
Aside from providing high caliber dance education, performance opportunities, and entertainment, Sparrow Dance Productions aims to become an anchor to the city of Rio Rancho using dance programs designed to promote positive individual and group development with programs including, but not limited to:
-Dance tuition scholarships for children in foster care
-Creation and development of, “Stand True Dance Crew,” in collaboration with Stand True for Blue, including youth mentorship. *http://www.standtrue4blue.com/
-Transportation assistance to the dance studio for low income households
-Specialized dance therapy programs
-Targeting and catering to home schooled students desiring dance and performing arts education
-Financial classes for the performing artist
-On-site academic tutoring services
PLANS OF ACTION
Sparrow Dance Productions has tentatively secured a studio in central Rio Rancho located at, 103 Rio Rancho Dr. NE, Suite D-6, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. *For those of you familiar with this neck of the woods, that is on the corner of Highway 528 and Sundt, across from the Boys’ and Girls’ Club! Actions, short-term and long-term, include but are not limited to:
-Selling Sponsorship Packages
-Grant writing
-Presentational and promotional media
-Online fundraising campaign(s)
-Hosting fundraising events including performances
HOW CAN YOU HELP?!
We need your help to put a roof over our heads!!! Sparrow Dance Productions is in the process of obtaining their 501(c)(3) non-profit status with the IRS. Until that paperwork is processed and Sparrow is given non-profit status, we are unable to qualify for nonprofit grants and other nonprofit specific funding. Financial support is key in ensuring that Sparrow Dance Productions can begin their community outreach programs as soon as possible. We have a tentative opening date of June 1, 2017. However, we need to fundraise $10,000 no later than May 31st, 2017, in order to finance startup costs; otherwise we will have to forfeit the space. You can show your support, as well as help the community of Rio Rancho, NM, by making a monetary donation or purchasing a sponsorship package to help make Sparrow’s vision for the community come to fruition.
