ASK FIRST 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Ask First is a sticker campaign started in 2014 to create awareness about consent. The campaign consists of eye-catching stickers and temporary tattoos that simply read, ‘Ask First’.

The project originated at the San Francisco Folsom Street Fair, an annual BDSM event designed to celebrate alternative sexualities and community. Public sexuality is a huge part of what makes the Folsom Street Fair important. But all to often consent gets erased in sexualized environments, especially ones held publicly. With the intent of creating a safer space for all, Bay Area sex worker and sexual health educator, Maxine Holloway, founded this simple yet effective sticker project.

The Ask First Campaign has now spread all over the country and has been making consent visible at Pride events, sex toy shops, lamp posts, school notebooks, kink events, underground parties, subway trains, mirrors in bar bathrooms, and college campuses.

For Folsom 2018 we have NEW DESIGNS, and an army of BAD-ASS BABES, armed with stickers, advocating for the fair to be fun, filthy, and consensual for everyone. We will be teaming up with the lovely folks from Kink BNB to bring you our sexy Folsom Fair Photobooth & Kink Booth.

Show off your Folsom best and get you photo captured by the talented Cat Donohue. Your contribution will go directly to printing the Ask First stickers, which are the heart and soul of this project. We are committed to celebrating and promoting consent and look forward to your support. Right now we need at least $500 to provide this service to our community, and cover as many of the 400k Folsom attendees in consent accessories!

We are also looking to raise an additional $400 to cover the costs of running the booth, $900 total. Any additional funds, are much needed and will be used to supply events throughout the year with Ask First stickers and consent information. If people can understand the importance of consent in alternative and sexualized environments, this will assists our entire culture in understanding that there are no caveats when it comes to consent. Whether you are in your home, walking down the street, in a bar, or at a BDSM fair, consent must be present.
