Ashley's Fight Against Lung Cancer

Donation protected
On December 6, 2018 I went to the ER thinking I just had pneumonia. I was rushed from our local hospital by ambulance down to Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, because I was having tachycardia and had a massive amount of fluid surrounding my heart and one lung. At Banner, they drained 3 liters off of my heart and lung during the first night I was admitted. They ran tests on the fluids surrounding my heart and lungs. I'll never forget December 8th, after multitudes of doctors came in from pulmonolgy, cardiology, obstericians, internal medicine and then finally an oncologist came in, he was the first doctor that pulled a chair out, and he sat down to tell me, that in the fluid, they found cells of malignancy. At that time, I was 23 weeks pregnant. And I couldn't even believe what he was saying. I was in complete shock. Up until the point of being hospitalized, I was a normal mom to a crazy 17 month old boy. Working full time, cooking and cleaning. I had been feeling run down, but I attributed it to the pregnancy and possibly having the flu. Little did I know that my lung was being collapsed because of the fluid pressure buildup. I had never heard of adenocarcinoma before. The oncologist told me that I have non small cell lung cancer.  After weeks of monitoring and getting the fluid build up reduced, I was released from the hospital without any tubes. But just one week after leaving the hospital I had a pulmonolgy appointment. During the ultrasound, the doctor found a significant fluid reaccumulation. He wanted to drain it, and place a pleurex catheter immediately. As of now, I need to drain the catheter in my lung, every other day.  I plan on beginning treatment as soon as I have all the tests back from the oncologist, and can evaluate my choices. Being pregnant complicates this. I am sure that the holidays have delayed a lot of the labs.  I am asking for donations to help with the medical bills, and because right now, I am unable to work.
