Last week giving Ashley a little spa treatment. She said she loved being touched when it was for a shot or new procedure for the tubes in her body.. Today is a hard day as we have learned that there is come complications with Ashley right lung and the will be performing another surgery tomorrow which means another 10 days to two weeks more in the hospital. Your support and prayers has meant so much thank you all.    SORRY A FEW TYPOS... I SEEM TO BE FRUSTRATED.

Ashely loved the touch from being pampered because she is alway getting pocked by needles,  They (the transplant team will be opening up her check again tomorrow.

Social media and the news largely try to convince us that the world pretty much sucks.

It doesn’t suck. Miracles happen. But sometimes Miracles require a journey.

If you read our original post for this campaign, you know that Ashley has Cystic Fibrosis and her 35 year old heart and lungs were spent.

A few months ago she was urgently shuttled to the best CF care team in the world at Stanford Medical, who first gave us hope that she would survive but then delivered the stark reality that she would need a heart-lung transplant; one of fewer than 100 performed in the US each year.

She was at the top of the recipient list. And we waited with agonizing uncertainty for a matching donor.

Then, right when we were getting used to the uncertainty, there was a  match and at 1am on Friday August 3 she was rushed into surgery. Eight hours later she came out of anesthesia with new life.

And the miracles have continued. She progressed quickly in ICU and was released to a “transition room” in only 5 days when the prediction was it would be 2 or more weeks. But here’s the really big one: her amazing doctor team is preparing to release her to home care now only 5 days later, when we were told 3 weeks is more typical. Incredible!

But now the real journey begins.

Ashley and Justin will now stay in Palo Alto for 3 to 6 months. They’ve set up an apartment that meets required specifications and is close enough to the hospital to limit stress in making the trips for tests and checks several times a week. When all continues to go well, they will be released to return home to Boise, but will need to go back to Stanford monthly for 6 months, then quarterly for 3 years.

A journey ahead? Yes. A Miracle? Absolutely.

Your support for Ashley to date has been amazing and heartwarming. We are certain that the care and prayers of so many have emboldened her courage and optimism. But still, in spite of money raised through this campaign and other private donations, we are only half way to the financial goal we predict they will need to pay for living and travel on the way to a new, energy-filled life for her.

For you $5 gets a latte, $25 a movie, and $150 makes for a nice dinner out with a bottle of wine... but for Ashley and Justin it is invaluable support through this challenging but victorious journey! Help us help Ashley in any way you can. And keep praying.

Thank you!
