Raised by 2 people in 25 months
Click " Updates" above to see current client needs!!!    There are over 40 million displaced people in the world due to various types of persecution. Most are women and children. Many are among the elderly, are struggling with an illness or disabled. So many have no education and face serious challenges in starting their lives over. "WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO HELP ALL 40 MILLION PEOPLE, BUT WE CAN WE CAN HELP BY HELPING ONE AT A TIME." You can make a hopeful impact in the lives of many by giving today!

This GoFundMe page has been set up to help us better share with you some of the direct needs of our clients so that you might understand how import oaf a blessing your giving is to our organization. As Christians, we believe we are to be a light in a sometimes dark world sharing the hope of Jesus to ALL people from ALL nations by first just loving people which might require active giving of ourselves and time taken to show we truly do care. Your financial contributions will help Asha's Refuge help those clients in our city (Memphis, TN) who are facing desperate situations which requires temporary help with things like medical assistance, dental or vision care, rental assistance, utilities, gas and transportation, household items, clothing and food needs.  Current client needs and achievements are updated on this GoFundMe page (click "updates"), on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram Pages and on our website ( www.ashasrefuge.org). Our goal is to raise $5,000 thereby building our "Give Hope" fund account  so that we can access this fund to help those clients with their most immediate needs.  As the funds are used we will continue raising ongoing support for this Give Hope fund.

Asha's Refuge is a faith based 501(c)3 organization which helps displaced people who came from all over the world find hope as they start their lives anew in the Memphis, TN area. Your tax deductible donations are much appreciated and will truly help to bring hope to the many who are feeling hopeless in their difficult situation.

We often have immediate family needs for our clients where fundraising is important to our ability to help them. Our goal is to fund our Benevity account to have funds available for client emergencies such as the examples we have listed below. Asha's Refuge seeks to mentor and tap into all other resources of assistance available to meet needs. There are still, however, times when emergency funds are just a must! Your financial contribution will go towards this fund to help those clients we currently assist who have immediate emergency needs. Thank you for your support!
-Emergency Housing Expense
(Ex: We once had an elderly lady
at risk for being homeless we
could pay a months rent for her
and have time to make a better
plan to meet her housing need
going forward).
-utilities and water bill assistance
-Immediate medical/dental need
-prescription refill emergencies
-immediate food/clothing needs
-newborn baby emergency needs
-help with unexpected family
emergency expenses such as
funeral cost, house fire, sudden
illness, accident, etc.
-transportation help
-and more

Thank you for your generous donation.

By giving today you can help us help those refugees facing serious challenges and often tough financial situations. We were at the ER with a gentleman over the weekend who had tooth aches, ear aches, and severe headaches. His primary care physician referred him to go there. His tooth infection has not been taken care of in so long due to the lack of being able to understand our dental systems with no dental insurance. He also does not speak enough English to call and make an appointment for himself. This infection has dangerously been going through the rest of his body. The CT Scan revealed that it has not affected his brain but the teeth need to be taken care of. He was given a strong antibiotic and is waiting on a way to get dental assistance in order to take care of several teeth and possibly decaying gums.

Asha's Refuge takes care to find local dental programs and dentists who are willing to help our clients in need at significantly reduced rates. There is, however, still a cost for them. Approximately $65 is for a visit at a dental clinic that specializes in working with low income individuals. This only pays for the exam and perhaps one tooth pulled so I understand. There are other fees associated with this initial visit if the patient has more needs that are not covered.

We are thankful for the many dentist that have a heart to help low income families, but in the city of Memphis, there still is a huge need for dental help. Asha's Refuge knows of a dental school that can sometimes help but the cost is even greater (even though it is considered to be at a significanltly reduced cost). There is also a traveling clinic Bellvue does but not yet set up in the zip code many of our clients live in (we will be working on a time to work this out for our zip code).

Your donation will help us to help clients like this particular older gentleman get the treatment and care he needs. Help us give hope today by giving a tax deductible donation today.

We currently have several new mothers who we seek to assist as they learn not only to weave through the challenges of starting their life over in a new country, but also as they learn all the challenges of being a new mother might entail. Asha's Refuge has some single mothers that we encourage and try to assist as the funds and volunteer time exist. We currently have a mom who just had a new baby who is also facing the challenges of having no job, education and no money to pay her rent. She has been attending our American Life and Language classes but will need to stay home with her new baby until she can nurture the baby and hopefully plug in to a good day care center so that she can find work.

Surprisingly, there are several refugee mothers with infants in need of an encouraging hand to hold that will help be a light of hope in this emotional, happy but difficult season of their life. Asha's Refuge beeds culturally sensitive volunteers with hearts for new moms and infants to not try to fix everything but assist and empower these new moms with moving through their new American life. Funding is truly helpful for us so that we can help lesson the burdens on new moms whole advocates can concentrate on building good mentoring relationships and sharing the hope and love message of Jesus .

Your donation into this GoFundMe fund will help new moms in desperate situations. You can also donate online through our website through PayPal by clicking the "heart" logo at the bottom of the page or mail your donation to 1035 Winchester Blvd., Suite A216, Collierville, TN 38017 to our administrative office. Thank you in advance for your generous tax defuctible contribution. We are a 501(c)3 organization in the state of TN.

Imagine: You are finally fortunate to be brand new to a country after being displaced from the unstable situations in your home country. You are eager and excited to start your life over! Once you arrive to your new safe apartment with two roommates in a similar situation you are quickly surprised to receive a health physical result that reveals a serious and deadly situation going on with your heart. You must have open heart surgery immediately and will not be able to work to pay your shared portion of the rent ($187) and are concerned because your roommates are also struggling to pay their own portion of rent. You receive the heart surgery and begin the several months of recovery. Just two weeks after surgery you are informed that you will no longer receive any financial assistance to help you here in the new country you are in. You will also not be eligible for healthcare insurance and must provide for yourself on your own. You are shocked and confused that it had only been a few months and you are already supposed to be able to handle everything on your own even after this new discovery of your heart problem. You are very willing to work but just need a couple of months of help to recover. You are concerned financially and cancel your follow up surgery doctors appointments fearing you cannot pay their bill. What will you do to purchase your own food or help with utilities as you recover?! You are in a new country and speak very little English. This is Adam's situation. He is from Sudan. Will you help him a little so he can get back on his feet?! Message us or contact jamie@ashasrefuge.org. You can also donate right here right now through Facebook or go online to our website to donate and help refugees like Adam.
