Medical Mission to Nicaragua w/NDI!

This spring break I am traveling to Ometepe, Nicaragua for 10 days to work with Natural Doctors International www.ndimed.org in their global health clinic. This is my first opportunity to travel as part of a medical mission team! The resident physician at the NDI clinic hosts natural physicians and students from around the world who volunteer their time and expertise to provide healthcare to the community. As part of this trip I will get to practice my medical skills and gain valuable clinical experience, while studying global health and sustainability in healthcare in a developing country.

My goal is to raise $2200 to cover my airfare (~$900) and course fee ($1300). The course fee includes homestay room & board, global health courses, teachers, staff, and supplies, as well as supporting the year-round operation of the NDI clinic. Your support will provide me the opportunity to get hands on clinical experience in diagnosis and treatment, practice in medical Spanish, and will provide natural healthcare to the people of Ometepe. 

I am currently in my second year of the ND program at the National College of Natural Medicine www.ncnm.edu in Portland, OR. By the time of travel I will have completed courses in physical examination & diagnosis, botanical medicine, laboratory & radiology interpretation, pathology, orthopedics, hydrotherapy, all of the hard sciences. As I prepare for my clinical entrance exams on April 24-25, this opportunity would be an invaluable asset to my preparation and skills practice.
