My name is Shannon McRandle. I was dx with Ankylosing Spondylitis and Stage 3 Anal Cancer in April 2013. I underwent chemo/radiation and now AS treatment. The radiation destroyed my wbc/rbc production, gave me osteoporosis , put me through menopause and killed the normal production of cells in my body . AS treatment is not working for me. Alternative therapies like acupuncture, massage and chiropracty are not covered by insurance and I have not worked since my cancer. We are living pay check to paycheck bc of the lack of a second income. I do as much community service as possible to give back to those worse off than I am, although I've had to slow down a little lately while preparing for my second shoulder surgery. My goal is to raise enough money to take 6 months and work very hard using uncovered eastern healing techniques to get as close to normal as possible. I'm now housebound with trips out only to feed my children and get them to and from school. The pain is drowning me and I do not want to function on opiods or become so weakend that I can no longer even care for my children. My husband is deployed for the ninth time and working a dangerous job to keep us all safe but also to try his hardest to keep our heads above water. It's not enough. As I become less and less able to function at the smallest tasks, my doctors seem less and less able to help me, but worse, don't really care. Nor will they sign disability paperwork. I have to heal for my children, my husband. My two sons have recently been dx with AS as well and I need to have the strength to be there for them. Anything helps. I need hope back to be around long enough to get my boys through high school... then I can let go. God bless each and every one of you.
