Arts in Recovery

$4,395 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 17 people in 8 months
Arts in Recovery is a community art therapy program that serves women in recovery from trauma, loss and addictions, as well as youth at risk for suicide. We lose too many people everyday to addiction and suicide. But with community support, we can continue to offer hope and healing to those who need it the most. Arts in Recovery is the only free art therapy recovery program in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. Groups are held in an art studio by a trained Art Therapist & Teaching Artist (Marney Schorr). The program provides people with an alternative means of recovery other than traditional talk therapy or medication, which are not always enough or present barriers especially to young people. Through the language of art, we teach life skills and coping strategies, provide support and fellowship, and foster creative process without exclusion. So far we are grateful for the support we receive from the wonderful people  at organizations like the Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Massachusetts Cultural Council and Northern Berkshire United Way.  But in order to continue serving the community and reaching more people, we are asking for private and public donations, no matter how  small. Your donation will have a direct impact  on growing Arts in Recovery, helping us to expand our space to include more people, and to continue improving the lives of those who seek. Your donation helps make art therapy accessible to everyone. Together we do make a difference.
