Artist Needs A Chair + Supplies

Donation protected

Hi there

I’m an artist from Ireland and have been illustrating for a number of years now, but like most every artist out there, I do not have a steady income and on a good month, make just enough to cover the rent, groceries and utilities.  (For those who have never heard of me, here is a small selection of my work below)

Like everyone, there are things that I need, but these needs have had to be postponed until additional money comes along. Unfortunately the chair I’ve been using is not designed for the kind of art table I have (an old second hand architect’s desk that cannot be lowered for my purpose). As a result, I’ve started to develop some muscle/back issues, including my wrists.

I’ve been in need of a suitable chair for my art table for a few years now and always told myself that when I start to do better financially, I will invest in one. That day has just not come around sadly, but my posture has been getting worse. Here is a picture of my current chair beside the desk, below.

It was suggested to me that asking for a little help in the form of a GoFundMe campaign might be enough to help me get the chair.

GoFundMe recommends starting at £1000, but that is more than I need (though I would certainly not reject it!). I have set the goal at £300, but if I can make it to £160 this will get me the chair(including shipping), which is the whole reason for the campaign.

*NOTE *When making a donation, there will be a tip setting which you can give a tip to GoFundMe if you choose. However donors always have the option to opt out of a tip by selecting 'Other' in the tips section. According to GoFundMe, if you ever accidentally leave a tip that you did not intend to, please contact their team @ http://www.gofundme.com/contact and they will help you with a refund.

I do not like to ask for handouts as I know that many people are struggling financially. I am also aware that there are many more important and worthy causes on GoFundMe. So, I only ask that if you have a spare dollar/pound or two and don’t mind to help a poor artist out, I would be very grateful. (But only if you are able; please do not donate if you are not doing so well yourself)

What the money will be spent on?

First and foremost, I will put the money toward a chair that is the suitable height for my desk. Here is a picture of the chair that I think will not only help my back, it will also stand up to durability for years to come. I have decided that the one below might be the best match for this.

If I get more than £160, this will go towards a combination of art supplies (mainly ink pens), I would also invest in an external hard drive where I can backup my work a second time (in the event that my existing external hard drive takes a nose dive)

If there was just a little more, it would go towards a green screen frame (Since my work is all visual, a green screen frame would be excellent and help me in promoting my visual work through videos etc. I have a green screen for videos but it’s held up by makeshift means; think clothes pegs and mop handles; hey I am brutally honest.).

So to break down where the funds will go, if successful...

£160 Chair (Work MF - Task Chair Task Stool Black)

£25 Pens, Paper and Pencils

£45 SEAGATE Expansion Portable Hard Drive

£40 Green Screen Frame (Adjustable Photography Background Support Stand Kit)

Thank you so much.

I will share pictures either on here or on Facebook, of the chair, if we get funding.
